Session 2: In Person Resources
Online Mission Intern Course 2010
GOAL
This week we'd like each of you (as missional entrepreneurs this Summer) to practice pulling together "In-Person" resources for your ministry site.
ENGAGE
- What gifts have you been given?
- What part of the body's work has fallen to you this Summer?
- Are you happy being a foot or nose? Would you rather be a brain or elbow?
- How is PURECAUSE being smarter about people-resources, than your usual volunteer org?
- In what creative ways might you engage people in your work at your ministry site?
- What are some gifts that people may have that have rarely been tapped to support your site's work?
ASSIGNMENTS
- Engage one person or make plans to engage one person in some creative, in-person, gift-centered work for your site.
- Add a blog entry telling us all about who you have called in to volunteer and how you're planning to engage their gifts/skills.
- Comment on one other person's "In-Person" blog entry - add yout thoughts to the most creative entry you read!
ReMember 2010 Suggestions
Here's the list of "In-Person" resources y'all came up with at ReMember:
- Carmen and Sam speaking Spanish and translating Protection Policy and other documents
- Web sites like idealist.org get us connected to other people through their creative ideas
- Worship bands are great places to plug in musical people like Ben, Sarah, Carmen, and Epraim
- College student organizations are great places to engage volunteers for programs
- Ben and other geeks may have photoshop/web skills that they could volunteer - even if they aren't on-site
- Engage people as volunteer drivers if hanging out the rest of the time with youth scares them. At least they can help the group get to where it needs to go!
- Ask youth groups to help out on cleaning days, car washes, can drives, etc.
- Set up a volunteer custodial crew to help out with cleaning the site after your Summer program/camp
- You become a volunteer in a local church to bring awareness of your site!
