Febraury Detroit Villages Gathering, 2/27
Friends, every so often you get a chance to see real examples of young people living like they are part of a church that matters to the world. Below is a short description of an upcoming event that is a part of Josh McKamie's plans to extend the church's capacity for mission and service in Ghana on a trip with seven friends this summer.
Josh's time as a Transforming Leaders intern and student coordinator of the pilot WSU Catalyst campus ministry have allowed him to showcase his leadership skills. He's been an integral part of the Emergedetroit network and now Josh is creating his own opportunities to serve God by serving others through this trip to Africa.
We hope that anything we do here in Detroit can encourage this kind of missional entrepreneurship and we celebrate the Ghana team's efforts. Please consider supporting them at their upcoming fundraising event. More details below.
This summer, Joshua McKamie from the Young Leaders Initiative and seven of his home church friends from the Plymouth-Canton area will be traveling to Ghana in Western Africa for 3 to 6 months. They will living and working in an orphanage and doing a variety of projects in the community, including installing water purification systems, teaching health and sanitation lessons, working with local businesses to become sustainable, and distributing solar powered "Talking Bibles" in the native language to those who can't read. To learn more about the trip and how you can help support the group, visit their website at www.GhanaTrinityTrip.com. They are also hosting a informative and fun auction night on Saturday, February 27th at 7 PM at the Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton (2936 South Lotz Road, Canton, MI 48188). All are welcome.
