Jeanie Wylie Community's Host of Events!
So, another Summer of the Transforming Leaders program is approaching and we have a wonderful group of interns who will be joining us again this year. Three of our interns this Summer will work with El Buen Pastor church in Detroit's Southwest neighborhood and three more will serve as Motown Mission Experience staffers. Another will be placed at St. Timothy's Outpost program and one more will be returning as a Multiply the Mission coordinating intern.
But an important part of each Summer experience has been the opportunity for our TL interns to live in community together in the City of Detroit. For a number of years we've enjoyed housing the group in a house in the University District, but that house has recently been sold. At this time we are in need of finding adequate housing for 7 interns to practice Christian community living for June and July.
If you or someone you know has connections that could lead to a house in Detroit where we could place these interns this Summer, please contact (313)718-2275. We thank you in advance for helping young people practice a kind of radical community that has the power to transform lives and neighborhoods and we ask that you all pray for Summers of service that do the same!
Thanks,
Carl

PS - the link above to the BBC's "Requiem for Detroit?" documentary is meant to provoke good conversation. Let us know after viewing that video if you think it is a fair depiction of Motown, if you think it is another example of what has come to be called "ruin pornography," and how you would tell the story of our city in you own ways in order to communicate how God is calling us to be in the City. Thanks!
