Happy New Year from Detroit Villages...a few weeks belated! Although there is only one week left of the month, there is still a lot going on! Here's what's coming up in this next week: Film night at Jenie Wylie House on Tuesday, Detroit Covenant Circle at Jeanie Wylie on Wednesday night, Ailanthus House needs your help moving all weekend, and there will be a Detroit Villages Community Celebration on Saturday night at Cass Community United Methodist. One of our goals (I know, it's desperately needed!) is to make the details for all these events available much sooner. I promise we'll do better for February. See the website for full descriptions of the upcoming events. Here's a brief desciption for this week's events:

January Community Gathering
Cass Community United Methodist Church (upstairs)
3901 Cass Avenue, Detroit, MI‎ (Cass and Selden)
This month will take the format of a roudtable discussion. We anticipate this conversation to set the tone for the next year, so its really important that you come out and share your thoughts! We'll be discussing how we relate to God, to one another, and to our neighbors (and the wider world). We'll talk about our current practices and also the things that we know are important, but we don't do so well. We'll be exploring this not as isolated individuals, but in the context of living life together. The themes and practices that seem most essential will likely become topics to explore more in depth at future Community Celebrations.
