Elevate: Detroit

Creating communities that connect people to Jesus.

Young adults elevating the homeless of Detroit.

BBQs - At a park in Detroit, hanging out with our homeless friends, BBQs are a great chance to see the Kingdom of God in action. Every month the park at 2nd & Selden becomes a place to see the Church being the Church. The point is to simply make new friends and show people the love of Jesus. No strings attached... we just want to hang out, have fun and love.

We are now focusing on the BBQs in Detroit as they continue to grow and have now multiplyed to every week! Elevate's Homeless BBQs are at 2nd & Selden on every Saturday of the month.

The BBQs are a coordinated effort put together by Elevate Ministries along with CrossCurrent (from Bethesda), quarterLife (from Kensington), Communitas (from Kensington), two28 (from Cornerstone Baptist), Bethany Baptist, Watershed (from Faith Lutheran), the Catholic Young Adult Ministry, Orchard Ridge Church, Genesis the Church, The Stand (from Highland Park Baptist), REAL Church, Axiom (from Kensington) and Panera Bread.

ROOFTOP NETWORKING -
rec•on•cil•i•a•tion
1. an act of reconciling or the state of being reconciled.
2. the reestablishing of cordial relations; restoration to harmony; renewal of friendship.

All over Detroit, Jesus’ message of love is being brought to life. We are learning to share and we are being fed. We are using our talents to encourage future generations and we are being taught that we are capable of changing the world. We are trying to love like Jesus. We are becoming the body of Christ. Slowly but surely, the Kingdom of God has infiltrated our city, and reconciliation is taking place. The only problem: we don’t know each other.

Join us a couple times a year for potluck evenings of networking, brainstorming, recruiting, sharing and dreaming. We are called to be “one body with many parts.” We are called to share and our ideas are a great place to start.

LEADERS LUNCHES are for pastors and leaders involved with Elevate. The purpose is to encourage and pray for each other and the young adults of Metro Detroit. For more info, drop us a line at either mike@elevatedetroit.com or (248) 720-8252.

Planting/Fixing parties - At 2nd & Selden we've been planting seeds of hope, life, beauty and resurrection in people's hearts for over a year. Now it's time for us to plant seeds of hope, life, beauty and resurrection in the ground. Now it's time to resurrect Robert Redmond park. We've installed 3 new benches, a garbage can and removed countless bags of trash. What's more is we've seen the community begin to come alive with new hope and help us in our quest. Donations are greatly needed to keep this effort moving. $79 buys a bench. $100 buys a bench and gets it installed.
