Thinking about spiritual gifts- I think I have been given a few gifts. Leadership and worship leading are some of my gifts. I am comfortable in front of large groups of people and I love to lead worship. This summer I have been able to use my gifts. Each week I lead some group games with the groups that come to Motown Mission and I have been able to lead worship a few times each week.
Most of what I have been doing this summer involves cooking! Each day I assist Shelley and our groups in preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is really exhausting but I don’t mind doing it. Some days I feel like the kitchen of Metropolitan United Methodist Church is the only place in Detroit I get to experience- but keeping our groups fed is a huge part of our ministry. I am in the kitchen around 22 hours a week. Serving meals is a ministry within itself. With each plate- comes a chance for others to become energized and ready to serve Jesus!
A week ago I met a Christian rapper at a restaurant. I have been in contact with her about coming to rap for the groups that come to Motown Mission Experience. I am waiting to hear from her again. I hope it all works out. I am planning on having her coming and sharing her gift of rap and spoken word with the kids. I still don’t know for sure if it will all work out (I am waiting for her manager to call me back). But if it does I think it will be awesome. Anyways- I am out! Peace out- girl scout!
