The Lutheran Volunteer Corps seeks a creative, collaborative leader and organizer to coordinate LVC’s local work in Detroit and Port Huron, MI. This is a full-time, paying position supporting LVC volunteers, coordinating local committees, managing our local resources and speaking on behalf of LVC in congregations and a variety of settings. LVC recruits and supports volunteers to serve one year working in a social justice organization, exploring sustainable living, and building intentional community with other Volunteers.

In addition to excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the Michigan Coordinator must also have experience working in a multicultural setting and articulating the journey to justice in the context of Christian and other religious traditions. LVC is on a Journey to an Inclusive Community and the new staff member should have experience working against institutional racism. LVC is a Reconciling in Christ organization; we welcome and affirm gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered leaders in all aspects of LVC.
