UnChristian Questions

CH.1 - One of my closest friends is an outsider or what I consider to be an outsider. Our values are so very different its amazing that we even get along. But in truth we're like brothers. This particular individual I'm referring to is a devout atheist. But despite our many differences in how we view the world and people, there are also a lot of things that we agree on. Our friendship has not always been what you would call easy. I have tried to persuade him to at least be open to my belief system but he isn't ready to try it yet. Not everyone is ready to accept Christ early in life. Some people need time before they are ready. Some will never be ready. As we prepare young Christians we just need to be truthful with them about the reality of the world. Despite the fact that we as Christians know God and how much he loves us, there are those who don't want to accept him and maybe never will.
Ch.2 - I believe that comment is pure nonsense. People who make comments like that are taking some of the more extremist views in Christianity and attributing those characteristics to the entirety of our demographic. People come to these conclusion because they want to justify the fact that they are not Christian.
- I believe I can redeem the term Christian by being those things that are vital to the being Christian but were not mentioned in the provided description of Christian individuals. By demonstrating caring, sympathy, empathy, love, acceptance, responsibility, realism, the ability to be truthful, and logical thought I can show by example what it means to be a Christian.

Ch.9- I believe that our church is expressing their faith in one of those fresh and new ways. I think the IALAC program, the IT Learning Center, and the Urban Methodist Youth Camp are some fresh and new ways in which individuals are beginning to express their faith. These are ways in which the Church is able to get involved in the community and affect change in the minds and hearts of the young people. We are investing in the future of our society.
