in person resources

I know this is somewhat late. I've been up at the Urban Methodist Youth Camp at Judson Collins for the past two weeks and I was working with limited technological resources and time.

I just wanted to recount an event and the role the staff at the Ialac program had in making it successful.

The event was the final trip of the program. The staff had scheduled a trip to Lake Erie Metro Park, but we wanted to make it special since it was the last trip for the Ialac program this summer. So we decided to have a cookout. We rented charter buses for the ride to the park and purchased hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies, juice, sausages and other cookout necessities. Then when we got to the park I did the majority of the cooking. There were two grilling stations but as mine was the larger of the two I did the vast majority of the cooking.

We cooked for about an hour. If a camper wanted the meal differently then how we were preparing the food we accomodated them and then, after everyone ate, the staff joined the Ialac'ers in having a good time.

I believe that was our most successful trip yet. I don't remember having any problems at all. Everything went smoothly. And everyone had a great time.
